Interview with Denis Kuehn
Mr. Kuehn, you are the Managing Director at GreenEnergyWorld, a marketing agency for wind and solar parks. What is your motivation?
GreenEnergyWorld is working in a sector that is developing globally on such a scale, almost uncomparable to others. We are a young company, already covering a large range of European markets with our activities in the wind sector. It is this combination of internationality and trendsetting technology that makes our daily work with clients incredibly thrilling and motivating.
Looking at GreenEnergyWorld's logo you can read "connecting visions''. What are the implications for your business?
Initially, this might read as an advertising slogan. However, for us this is the central idea. Both, investors and project developers, have individual ideas of what they want to achieve with their work and their companies. As mediator we need to know the desires of both parties. Otherwise we would not be able to sell wind parks across Europe. Obviously, here our longterm experience with wind energy projects is very useful.
And your vision?
With our business we support the energy turnaround. I think it is fascinating to see how a convincing vision sparks ideas and energy in our team. I am thinking about a good quote by Saint-Exupery: "If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea."
Well, that sounds much like sailing and wind. You are focussing rather on wind than on solar parks?
Indeed, looking at GreenEnergyWorld’s company history and the know how that we have in our team, we are focussing on the marketing of wind parks. Nevertheless, we also have larger solar projects on our project market from all over Europe. By the way, talking about projects we think of all stages; beginning with project development, but also building permitted and turn key projects, and including operating facilities. In the coming years we are expecting a growing supply of repowering projects.
GreenEnergyWorld has recently sold a Bulgarian wind park to an investor. You speak fluent Bulgarian and have accomanied the selling process until contract conclusion. What's up next in Bulgaria and what are your plans?
Bulgaria is intensively concentrating on the EU accession by advocating renewable energies. Except for hydropower, wind and solar energy have yet been barely utilised. The best wind regions are close to the coast of the Black Sea and in the mountains. Our experience in Bulgaria shows that building permit procedures are comparatively less laborious than in other European countries. After selling the 12.6 MW project we are expecting further marketing successes there in 2009.
Mr. Kuehn, what is your opinion for the wind sector in 2009?
Optimistic, because the future belongs to the renewables, irrespective of the financial crisis. In this spirit I wish all our clients and business partners a successful 2009.
