Poland has over 38 million inhabitants and ranges over 310.000 km²­. In 1995 it became a member of the World Trade Organization and in 2004 it joined the European Union. Poland is divided into federal districts these are called 'Voivodships'.

As one of the EU members Poland has to comply to the EU Policy as well as to the corresponding legal guidelines. Concerning environmental issues the goal is to reach a 15% share of renewable energy in total energy consumption till 2020.
